This marks the third workplace culture award this year for Billhighway; prior wins include Metro Detroit’s Best & Brightest Company to Work For and the Detroit Free Press Top Workplaces wins

Billhighway ranks #6 in its category on the Crain's Cool Places to Work 2014 list

Our Crain's Cool Places to Work recognition means a lot to us, and goes a long way with our recruitment efforts too. People want to work for a company that prioritizes fun and invests in the individual.

Billhighway, provider of cloud-based automation solutions for nonprofits, is proud to be named a Crain’s Cool Place to Work for 2014, building on previous wins in 2011 and 2012. Billhighway was one of only 75 companies in the metropolitan Detroit area named to the list, and placed sixth in its category. The win is the company’s third in workplace awards this year, a testament to its focus on building and maintaining a fun, encouraging, and motivating culture.

Billhighway’s roots are firmly planted in its Playbook, a collection of eight core values that course through every department, meeting, product, and team member. The company’s “Powered by Fun” play focuses on having fun as a way to change perspectives and inspire creativity. The spirit of fun makes for a better workplace, a better business practice and a better planet.

Some of the cool things Billhighway does that team members love include quarterly team outings, such as Detroit Tiger games, a Detroit architectural tour and cooking school. Team successes like new client wins are celebrated with things like a catered Mexican fiesta, a slider lunch from Hunter House and a Hippo hot dog party with all the fixings. Everyone’s birthday is celebrated with Mrs. Fields cookies, and team members can personalize their business cards with the three things that make them happy.

“We work hard to nurture a positive, engaging workplace,” said Brenda Gallick, Billhighway’s Director of Team Member Success. “Our Crain’s Cool Places to Work recognition means a lot to us, and goes a long way with our recruitment efforts too. People want to work for a company that prioritizes fun and invests in the individual.”

The Crain's Cool Places to Work recognition program honors employers that go the extra mile to make employees feel appreciated — as judged by the employees themselves. Best Companies Group, a research business in Harrisburg, PA, gathered data and conducted surveys on each organization to create the final rankings. The rankings are divided into three groups according to organization size, as measured by employee count. See the full list of all 75 companies here.
