Futures Inc Partners with Michigan National Guard, Offers New IT Talent Model
Durham, NC (PRWEB) November 26, 2014 -- Futures Inc., in partnership with the Michigan National Guard (MING) and Cisco, has launched a statewide online training, credentialing and job placement pilot for eligible MING members with core Army IT experience. The pilot is based on the April 2013 Joining Forces IT Training and Certification Program where job seekers and employers are virtually matched and connected using the Futures Inc. technology platform, USITPipeline.com, a cloud-based IT talent exchange.
Army Brig. General Michael Stone said this program is consistent with Michigan National Guard’s efforts to improve Readiness and stabilize the force. Sharing National Guard talent with the private sector is a win-win. BG Stone and the Michigan National Guard are proven innovators in veteran employment receiving recognition in Washington last month for specific strategies undertaken to link troops with employment and vocational training opportunities.
Each class will take approximately ten days to complete and can support up to 24 Guardsmen using training vouchers to cover the cost of all training. They will utilize the US IT Pipeline platform to support them through the entire process from initial sign-on and training to documented full time employment.
The initial pilot includes virtual Cisco CCNA training. Each participant is assigned a virtual coach to optimize his or her civilian employment profile, provide preparation and direct assistance with employer engagement. To help program participants find jobs, Cisco will identify relevant existing career opportunities within the company, as well as with its Michigan-based channel partners. Henry Ford College is the Michigan-based educational partner.
“This program will be of benefit to not only the individual but to the state in enriching its IT talent pool. The goal is to scale this model quickly across other state National Guards,” says Michael Veysey, Cisco’s Director of Veterans Programs.
