There is a solution for those that feel their retirement accounts are not what they need to be, Self-Directed IRAs. These IRAs allow people to invest in what they know under the tax shelter of their IRA.

According to Wells Fargo to get the information for their retirement survey, "Harris Poll conducted 1,001 telephone interviews from July 20 to August 25, 2014 of middle-class Americans between the ages of 25 and 75 with a median household income of $63,000." The survey revealed that 72% say they should have started saving earlier for retirement, up from 65% in 2013.

There is a solution for those that feel their retirement accounts are not what they need to be, Self-Directed IRAs. These IRAs allow people to invest in what they know and understand under the tax shelter of their IRA. The profits from their investments are tax-deferred or tax-free. For those that are feeling like they haven't saved enough or started too late, the good news is that they can follow their area of passion and use their IRA funds to not only increase their accounts but also to touch on a bit of entrepreneurship that they otherwise wouldn't have delved in to.

Wells Fargo went on to say "According to the survey, middle-class Americans have saved a median of $20,000, which is down from $25,000 in 2013. Middle-class Americans across all age groups in the study expect to need a median savings of $250,000 for retirement." While this is a big problem for middle class families, it is not hopeless. American IRA has had clients with small accounts with literally thousands of dollars grow their accounts to 6 figure accounts in a few short years. One client, for instance, grew their account from $6,800 to $293,000 in 5 short years through Self-Directed IRA investing. That particular client focused on real estate and private lending though other clients have achieved equal success with other investments. The key seems to be the drive to succeed and the willingness to invest in what people are passionate and knowledgeable about.
