National Health Care Associates Centers Celebrates Seventh Annual Falls Prevention Awareness Day
Bangor, ME (PRWEB) November 26, 2014 -- National Health Care Associates Centers and their Eastside Center for Health & Rehabilitation in Bangor, ME recently learned several safety practices at Seventh Annual Falls Prevention Awareness Day. They would like to share a few tips to help patients.
In order to prevent falls, people should maintain regular physical activity for improved balance and coordination. There are several easy exercises one can do, including shifting weight from foot to foot or sitting down and standing up without using one’s hands.
Patients should be sure to review their medications with a health care provider. Some medications can make people feel sleepy or dizzy, making them more susceptible to falls. Also, be sure to get an annual vision checkup; poor vision can increase the chances of falling.
Since Falls Prevention Awareness Day was first observed in 2008, participation in the event has grown from 11 states to 47 states plus the District of Columbia. The Eastside Center for Health & Rehabilitation is proud to be a part of the event.
