14,000 ways to Help the Hungry in Time for Thanksgiving and Not Leave Your Own Home
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) November 26, 2014 -- As Southern California families turn towards the busy holiday season, volunteers from First Team Real Estate's Fullerton office are gearing up to help the Salvation Army and Pathways of Hope deliver over two tons of food to needy families in North Orange County and Southeastern Los Angeles County during the holidays.
"Last year we distributed over 12,300 bags to homes across two counties and we got an incredible response of nearly two tons of food," said Greg Carrescia, Office Manager of the Fullerton office for First Team Real Estate. "This year we are distributing bags daily and have already 14,000 bags ready to go out to homes. We are going to break records this year."
As a result of their work with the food drive in 2013, the First Team Real Estate Fullerton Office was awarded 'Donor of the year' by Pathways of Hope, one of Orange County's most popular non-profits and a fixture of support for Fullerton's neediest families.
With over 600,000 residents in Orange County living at risk of missing their next meal, First Team's agents have led an effort for years that has collected tens of thousands of pounds of food.
"Our agents are active leaders in their communities," explained Chris Pollinger, Senior Vice President, Sales for First Team Real Estate. "Their volunteering on projects like this major food drive show our commitment as an organization to help as many families in need as possible."
Bags are being distributed door-to-door by local First Team agents in the neighborhoods they serve almost everyday. Each of the over 14,000 grocery bags, comes with easy to follow instructions on the bag, and a date to leave the bag on the curb in front of their home. Homeowners just need to fill up the bag with food and leave it on the curb on the date on the bag and a First Team agent will do the rest.
"People can change the holidays for a family in need and they don't have to go any further than their own doorstep," said Chris Pollinger. "We are very proud of the work and initiative First Team agents have shown in putting this program together and we look forward to seeing the incredible support they likely will get from the community."
