Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) November 27, 2014
Aria Health President and CEO Kathleen Kinslow, alongside volunteer Aria Health employees, prepared and donated 200 Thanksgiving dinners on Friday, November 21, 2014 to the Lutheran Settlement House , a non-profit, community-based organization committed to serving vulnerable children, adults and families living in Philadelphia. The dinners were assembled in the dining hall of the Lutheran Settlement House Senior Center, and distributed to vulnerable low income seniors in the Philadelphia community.
“Aria Health prides itself on being a hospital network for the community, and the Thanksgiving food drive is just one way we are giving back to the communities we serve,” said Kinslow. “I was so inspired by the generosity of the Aria family, as well as the commitment I have seen in our partners at the Lutheran Settlement House. What an honor it has been to extend our support beyond clinical care. Providing someone a healthy, comforting meal so they know they are valued is so important and something that I know all of us at Aria hope makes a difference this holiday season.”
Since October, Aria Health employees have participated in a Food Drive across each of its campuses including Frankford, Torresdale and Bucks County to collect non-perishable items for the Lutheran Settlement House. Through the generous donations of its employees, Aria Health was able to prepare and donate Thanksgiving meal baskets that contained the holiday favorites, such as stuffing mix and mashed potatoes, as well as canned items such as corn, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, green beans and fruit cocktail. Aria Health also donated baskets, rolls, pumpkin and apple pies, fresh vegetables and turkeys.
“Thanks to the generosity of Aria Health and its employees, our community’s most vulnerable seniors will enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal this holiday,” said Kelly Davis, executive director of the Lutheran Settlement House. “It’s organizations like Aria Health that help Lutheran Settlement House continue to serve the community and provide support to individuals and families in need, including senior citizens, victims of domestic violence, and the homeless. We are proud to call them our partner.”
