Ultimate Spelling Promotes Guardian Princess Alliance's Movement for a New Generation of Women
New York City, NY (PRWEB) November 29, 2014 -- The Guardian Princess Alliance introduces a new generation of princesses, redefining the common concept of what a storybook princess looks like and behaves. The learn to spell software designer, eReflect, recently shared a video about this new approach to an old stereotype on the Ultimate Spelling™ blog . The company hopes that parents and children alike will learn more about the Guardian Princesses and their mission to enhance the ideals that the new princess culture champions.
Saving the world is not a man’s job, the Guardian Princess Alliance believes. Princesses have the power, ability, and right to defend the world, save the world, and make it a better place. According to the artists and creative talents behind this new movement, it's time to go beyond the traditional story line, because it's not just the prince who saves the day any more.
The Guardian Princess Alliance seeks to educate and empower young girls so that they begin to think beyond the stereotypical gendered idea of what a prince and a princess are like. The Guardian Princess Alliance is seeking to overhaul the effect the “princess culture” is having on young girls and women across the world. The old ideas that women need to be saved, that women are passive, and that women are only concerned with clothing and makeup don't belong in the 21st century. The creators are seeking to promote a new ideal of what a woman is capable of and what her aspirations should be, and it is an effort that eReflect is proud to support.
Setsu Shigematsu, a professor of media and cultural studies at the University of California, Riverside, came up with the idea for the Guardian Princess Alliance with the help of fellow teachers, students, and concerned parents. The Guardian Princess Alliance's goal is to help young girls understand that there is more to explore beyond makeup, bright gowns, and Prince Charming. Young girls can learn about and identify with other more positive and influential role models. The initiative is also designed to make the princess culture less narrow in terms of its representations of race, age, and physical appearance.
eReflect, the designer of a spelling tutor software program for children and adults, congratulates Professor Shigematsu and the other members behind the Guardian Princess Alliance for their effort and energy towards making this generation’s princesses more empowered, awakened, and informed.
The spelling program designer features a video on the Guardian Princess Alliance in the latest Ultimate Spelling™ blog post to help parents and educators participate in this overhaul of the princess culture initiated by Shigematsu. eReflect hopes that all young girls will take every opportunity they can to improve and educate themselves to be powerful actors in the 21st century and beyond.
