Olea Networks announced today that it has renewed its partnership with the Austin Trail of Lights Festival, the annual holiday lights festival in the Texas capital, which expects upwards of 425,000 attendees over the course of its 15-day run this month. At the popular annual event—which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary—Olea Networks will deploy LINCWorks mobile gateways to offer dedicated connectivity to support pivotal event operations such as ticket sales, food and drink sales, a hospitality area, and food truck vendors.
For the second consecutive year, Olea Networks will set up a private network using its interconnected LINCWorks gateways to enable connectivity across the event campus for support of all Trail of Lights personnel. For example, the deployed network will provide secure connectivity for portable credit card readers used to process tickets, food and drink purchases in near real-time—without the delay and hassle of batch processing the credit card transactions after shifts.
The fast, reliable speeds enabled by Olea Networks provide support for mission-critical transaction processing and high-bandwidth operations such as video and image uploads. In addition to speed, the LINCWorks gateways ensure connectivity throughout the broad spaces the event occupies, as the network supports concession vendors on one end of Zilker Park in downtown Austin—where the event is to be held—as well as the hospitality area on the other end of the park, upwards of 200 feet away.
“We are very excited to be working with the Olea Networks team supporting the Austin Trail of Lights again this year,” said Clint Campbell, CFO of 3Can Events, the event management company producing the annual event. “Our team is able to connect throughout Zilker Park, which helps create a very positive experience for all our guests visiting the event.”
Recently, Olea Networks Announced the availability of Olea EDGEWorks Fog Computing Platform that enables remote configuration, provisioning, deployment and monitoring of LINCWorks devices, applications installed onto those devices, and data aggregated from wireless sensors and distributed networks connected via the LINCWorks devices. “We are very excited for the first large-scale festival deployment of our Olea Fog Computing Platform,” said Dave Mackie, CEO of Olea Networks. “We’ve built an incredibly rugged mobile platform; we can now remotely monitor all our devices during the event and proactively troubleshoot to ensure connectivity and operations are not impacted.”
As computing power becomes more necessary at the network edge, devices and sensors will become increasingly more intelligent, requiring new methods of deployment and management. Olea Networks provides a simple yet robust remote management solution that addresses the needs of our information-driven era while anticipating micro-computing and industrial networking on the edge.
