Mobile, Security and Big Data Among Top Earning IT Positions Expected in 2015
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) November 29, 2014 -- A new report released by Robert Half Technology predicts that mobile, security and big data will continue to drive IT hiring and remain among the highest IT salary increases in 2015.
The 2015 Salary Guide for Technology Professionals released earlier this month, looked at starting salaries for more than 70 tech positions in the United States. Overall, Robert Half predicts the base compensation for IT professionals to jump by 5.7%, slightly above last year’s tech salaries.
The most in-demand positions will occur within the big data field, with salaries expected to increase by 10.2 percent. In 2014, the salary range for Mobile Application Developers was $100,000 - $144,000, while the range is expected to increase to $107,500 - $161,000 in 2015. The increase in salary and demand is attributed to the success of mobile applications. More than 70% of organizations have implemented some type of mobile strategy, and the need for talent who can develop applications for smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices is on the rise.
Big data roles, such as Data Architects, Data Modelers and Data Analytics/Report Writers, are also among the top increases in salary growth expected within the upcoming year. In 2014, Big Data Engineers made $110,250 - $152,750. Robert Half anticipates a change of 9.3 percent in 2015, with a new salary range of $119,250 - $168,250.
Data Security Analysts, Systems Security Administrators and other positions within the security field are highly sought, with many employers prepared to offer higher salaries in 2015. In 2014, data security analysts earned $106,250 - $149,000. In 2015, this range is expected to grow by 7.4 percent to $106,250 - $149,000. While the income difference is less than other positions in the security field (6.6 percent), Information Systems Security Managers have the highest salary expectation of the report, moving from $115,250 - $160,000 in 2014, to $122,250 - $171,250 in 2015. Candidates with specialized security certifications and skills such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Check Point Firewall administration and Cisco network administration skills, can expect to earn even higher compensation.
