Sunrise Day Camps Joins List of Partners of The Garden of Dreams Foundation
OCEANSIDE, NY (PRWEB) December 03, 2014 -- The Garden of Dreams Foundation and The Sunrise Association announced today that Sunrise Day Camps have joined the list of Garden of Dreams partner organizations.
The Garden of Dreams Foundation is a non-profit charity that works closely with all areas of The Madison Square Garden Company, including the Knicks, Rangers, Liberty, MSG Entertainment and MSG Media, to make dreams come true for children facing obstacles. Through unique and unforgettable, on-going events and programs, the Foundation develops strong, long-term relationships that truly change lives.
Sunrise Day Camps are the first and only day camps in the world designed for children with cancer, ages 3 ½ –16, and their siblings. The camps and year-round programs are offered completely free of charge to every family served. The camps are designed to meet the emotional, social, recreational and physical needs of these children while allowing them to enjoy the comforts and safety of their own homes at night. This summer, more than 1,000 children enrolled in day camp at Sunrise’s three locations – Long Island, Israel and the newest U.S. camp in Pearl River. The scheduled opening this summer of the Sunrise Association’s newest camp in Be’er Sheva, Israel was delayed due to the outbreak of conflict in the region. Additionally, nearly 2,000 children benefit each year from Sunrise’s many year-round programs both at camp and at 20 affiliated pediatric oncology hospitals in the NY metro region and Israel.
“We are very excited to partner with the Garden of Dreams Foundation so that our campers can benefit from the unique experiences and programmatic opportunities available for children through the Foundation’s generosity, talent, time and resources,” said Arnie Preminger, President and CEO of Sunrise Association. “This is a really wonderful opportunity for Sunrise to be associated with a prestigious New York institution, and we know that our campers are going to be thrilled to be involved with upcoming Garden of Dreams events and programs,” Preminger added.
“The Garden of Dreams Foundation works with their partner organizations throughout the year to create unique and unforgettable experiences for the children it serves and I believe that is why Sunrise Day Camps makes a perfect addition to the Garden of Dreams family,” said Darryl McDaniels, Garden of Dreams Board Member. “We know that the Garden of Dreams Foundation and The Sunrise Association share a mission to provide strong, positive experiences for children facing obstacles and each does an incredible job at keeping in touch with the children involved to assure that each child leaves every experience with a smile.”
