Lifespire Switches Pharmacy Providers to Community Care Rx
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 30, 2014 -- As of December 1, 2014, Community Care Rx, a Queens-based pharmacy that serves long-term care facilities throughout New York and Long Island, will become the primary pharmacy services provider for the 40+ residences of Lifespire, a nonprofit organization offering a full range of residential, occupational, and behavioral management services to individuals with developmental disabilities in New York.
“The fact that we provide services for individuals with developmental disabilities under the auspices of the OPWDD places us in a situation with unique pharmacy needs,” says Laura Hill, Lifespire’s Director of Nursing. “We are neither a skilled nursing facility nor a hospital, and our staff are not trained nurses. So it was very important that we have a pharmacy provider that can customize their services to meet our specific needs. And as a locally-based company, Community Care Rx can do that.”
Some of the key benefits that Community Care Rx provides include:
• Choice of medication packaging options to ensure dosage accuracy and to prevent tampering.
• Specific medication delivery times to ensure that staff are on-hand to receive deliveries.
• Direct line to each pharmacy route driver to advise of delivery times and delays.
• Online ordering through the Community Care Rx website portal for faster refills.
• Electronic Medication Administration Record capability, with automatic date- and time-stamping for enhanced accuracy and record keeping.
• Maintaining all prescriptions, including emergency antibiotics, in one pharmacy that is integrated with a local 24-hour CVS or Walgreens for urgent situations.
“Community Care Rx are known for their flexibility and personalized service,” says Hill. “For example, we now have an assigned representative available 24 hours a day, weekends and holidays included. And their willingness to offer us a choice of blister packaging and delivery times will enable us to streamline and ensure the accuracy of our medication management.”
“We believe pharmacy services should have a positive impact on the quality of care delivered by facilities to their residents,” says Hossam Maksoud, CEO of Community Care Rx. “We can provide Lifespire all the benefits of a large pharmacy but with a personalized approach and the flexibility to customize our services to meet Lifespire’s specific delivery, packaging, recordkeeping, and other medication needs.”
“I am delighted that Community Care Rx will now be our primary pharmacy services provider for the 344 individuals at Lifespire’s residences,” says Lifespire CEO Mark van Voorst. “We’ve been working with them since October on details such as blister pack style selection and delivery times, and we anticipate a seamless transition on December 1st. Community Care Rx are known for their customization and personal service and, so far, they have delivered as promised. We look forward to working with them for a long time.”
