Alexander Valley Film Society Announces October 2015 Dates For Inaugural Alexander Valley Film Festival
Cloverdale, CA (PRWEB) December 01, 2014 -- The Alexander Valley Film Society will produce the first annual Alexander Valley Film Festival October 22-25, 2015. Anchored at The Clover Theater in Cloverdale and The Raven Film Center in Healdsburg, the festival will be a four-day celebration of film, food, music, wine, heritage, and hospitality. The Alexander Valley (AV) Film Festival will showcase new and emerging talents from all over the world. The festival will also feature student films from youth throughout the region.
“The AV Film Festival is designed not only to showcase our extraordinary community, but also to foster culture and build arts awareness,” says AV Film Society Executive Director Kathryn Hecht. “We have a unique opportunity to bring diverse films and artists to Northern Sonoma County. We will build the AV Film Festival on the strength and diversity of our community in the hopes that it will serve as the premier, unifying cultural event for this region."
Proceeds from The AV Film Festival will fund educational programs of the AV Film Lab, such as documentary filmmaking courses, animation workshops, and scholarships to other Bay Area film festivals. Ultimately, the AV Film Lab will also serve as an artistic incubator for artists from around the world, establishing the Alexander Valley as a viable place for creative refuge and production potential.
“This is just the kind of ambitious, generously spirited project that the Alexander Valley needs,” says Matt Semmelhack, owner of Mercer Restaurant Group and the soon-to-open Trading Post Market and Bakery in Cloverdale. “Families who have been here for generations exhibit an extraordinary commitment to their neighbors. It’s efforts like those of the Alexander Valley Film Society that embody the very nature of Northern Sonoma County.”
About The Alexander Valley Film Society: Headed by the team responsible for the renaissance of The Clover Theater in Cloverdale, the Alexander Valley Film Society seeks to enrich our community by connecting the public with diverse films, artists, and experts through an annually produced regional film festival and year-round educational film programs. Central to this mission is a focus on arts education. By working closely with Alexander Valley School Districts and well-established after-school programs, the AV Film Society aims to help bridge the gap between arts education and underserved students. The Alexander Valley Film Society is fiscally sponsored by the San Francisco Film Society.
