Rivier University Launches New Supply Chain Management and Project Management Degrees
Nashua, NH (PRWEB) November 30, 2014 -- In response to local and global workforce needs, Rivier will launch three new Graduate and Professional Studies degree programs in January 2015—a bachelor’s in Supply Chain Management, and a bachelor’s and master’s in Project Management.
“Effective supply chain management and project management are crucial elements in nearly every sector from business and manufacturing to non-profits to the military,” said Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM, President. “These programs will educate students around the world and specifically answer a call from local businesses to provide training in these areas to their employees.”
B.S. in Supply Chain Management graduates will be able to coordinate and efficiently manage all logistical functions of an organization. Coursework topics include negotiation practices; resource estimation and budgeting; procurement, transportation and distribution management; Six Sigma and Lean methodologies; and global supply chain management.
The B.S. in Project Management curriculum aligns with standards established by the Program Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading professional organization for project, program and portfolio management. The program will prepare students to take PMI exams for Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications. Coursework focuses on planning and scheduling; risk management; budgeting, contracting and procurement; and production and operations management.
The M.S. in Project Management not only aligns with PMI standards and prepares students for CAPM and PMP certifications, and but also trains graduates to lead virtual project teams, to perform advanced analyses to investigate and resolve complex problems, and to employ critical-thinking skills for higher-level decision making. This program can be completed in one year.
“The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates that job growth in these areas will exceed the national average in the next eight years and provide lucrative positions to trained professionals,” says Dr. Amir Toosi, Dean of Rivier’s Business Division. “These degrees will provide graduates with career advancement and leadership opportunities.”
Accommodating the flexibility required by working professionals and higher education trends, these programs will be offered online and in a hybrid format. Hybrid courses meet once a week and have accompanying online coursework. Some weekend courses will be available as well.
