Helping Haitian Angels Looks Back on a Momentous 2014 Non-profit Opens New Village and Partners with Food for the Poor
Haymarket, VA (PRWEB) December 03, 2014 -- What was once a dream to establish a village in Northern Haiti's countryside for the nation's orphaned boys and girls became a reality this August when Helping Haitian Angels (HHA) moved 42 children into their new home in Kay Anj Village. The village will be the permanent home for HHA and will bring educational opportunities to 50 additional children in the surrounding community, as well.
According to HHA co-founder and executive director Debbie Harvey, “2014 was a milestone year for us and the kids that have been with us since we started on this journey together in 2007. Their excitement as the buses left for their new home at Kay Anj Village is a scene none of us will soon forget."

With the accomplishments of 2014 behind them, HHA is looking toward building on those successes in 2015. Next year, in partnership with Food for the Poor, HHA will begin construction on Phase 2 of Kay Anj Village. A budget of $377,000 has been established to create transitional housing for the older children, construct volunteer and staff housing, build administrative offices and a sanitation facility, plant 2,000 fruit and moringa tree seedlings and provision a facility to raise 600 chickens.
“One of HHA’s goals is to reduce the monthly operating expenses of Kay Anj Village by becoming self-sustaining and economical to manage,” said Bill Harvey, co-founder of HHA. “By focusing on sustainability, Helping Haitian Angels is making an investment in its future to ensure that we will be housing and educating Haiti’s children for decades to come.”

Helping Haitian Angels is a 501(c) (3) non-profit Christian organization established in 2008 by Haymarket, Virginia residents Bill and Debbie Harvey to create a village in Northern Haiti for the country’s orphaned children. Kay Anj Village is situated on 40 acres, 25 of which will be farmed, and includes 8 houses for 80 children, a school for 250 students, a church and community center and an infrastructure in place to support the village.
