Tomatina is Celebrating the Opening of 7th Location in San Mateo; Giving Away 100 Free Meals
San Mateo, California (PRWEB) December 04, 2014 -- Tomatina, a casual, chef-inspired Italian restaurant, is celebrating the opening of its seventh Bay Area location on December 16 from 5-7pm at 401 South B Street in San Mateo, California. Tomatina will be joined by Greg from the popular 99.7 NOW Fernando and Greg Morning Show, who will be playing music on-site and helping to give away fresh, Italian meals to the first 100 guests to arrive. Beginning Friday, December 19, Tomatina in San Mateo will be open to the public for regular business hours.
Mark Nicandri, Senior Vice President of Operations at Tomatina, is thrilled to join the San Mateo community: “After hosting an incredibly successful opening event for our opening in San Jose in June, we are excited about what is now becoming a tradition of giving away free meals to our fans and to donating back to the local community.”
Tomatina will be hosting three days of soft-opening events and will be collecting canned goods and donating 100% of alcohol sales to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Second Harvest Food Bank is one of the largest food banks in the nation providing food to nearly 250,000 individuals and families in need each month. Tomatina is committed to supporting the community at all its locations through the “Donate Back” program, hosting events for local non-profits and donating 15% of sales generated from their supporters. http://www.tomatina.com/donate.php
Tomatina’s Executive Chef Rogelio Jacinto has helped to craft an extensive Italian menu that takes a modern approach to traditional Italian recipes. Chef Jacinto has been with Tomatina since its inception in 1998. He began his career in 1989 at the prestigious Tra Vigne Restaurant in St. Helena, California under the instruction of American celebrity chef Michael Chiarello. When Chiarello opened Tomatina in 1998, he entrusted Jacinto with the task of developing the menu. Chef Jacinto was promoted to Executive Chef of Tomatina in 2002 and continues in this role, where he plays an integral part in the creation of Tomatina’s menu and rotating specials. http://www.tomatina.com/monthly_specials.php
“Our customers appreciate that our food is made to order with fresh ingredients. At Tomatina, we bake fresh bread daily, pull our own mozzarella and make all our own sauces from scratch at each of our locations. We are proud that each restaurant has a full-time chef on staff to ensure a great meal every time you dine with us,” says Nicandri.
While their pasta with made-from-scratch sauces and home-made pizza are customer favorites, Tomatina has become known for their signature piadines – fresh, hot flat-bread topped with cool salads, ready to fold and eat. Chef Jacinto will be working with San Mateo Chef Jose Luis Ramirez to bring diners new, seasonal specials each month, as well as an extensive menu with gluten-free, vegetarian and kid-friendly options. http://www.tomatina.com/main_menu.php
The San Mateo location will feature a full bar serving signature and classic cocktails with an extensive selection of hand-selected Italian and California wines. http://www.tomatina.com/bev_menu.php
