Second Annual Yabba Dabba Doo Charity Event Raises Over £27,100 for Haiyan Relief
Manchester, UK (PRWEB) December 02, 2014 -- The Second Annual Yabba Dabba Doo (YDD) charity event was held on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 on the grounds of Jan Trevalyan’s country home in Lathom, U.K., YDD founder and CEO of The DDC Group.
The evening has become an annual 'Doo' with the aim to raise as much money as possible on the night for this year’s selected charity, The DDC Group - Typhoon Haiyan Relief Fund.
Trevalyan explained that he started Yabba Dabba Doo because he wanted to change fundraising functions up a bit.
"We were sick of the stale hotel bars and dry ballroom chicken," he stated. "We wanted it to be more casual, kid-friendly, and feature top-notch food, drinks and entertainment."
This year's event raised a staggering £27,100 (approx. $34, 000 U.S. dollars) for Haiyan relief. The cause is one that Trevalyan and his brother, Brett, also an executive of The DDC Group, hold very close to their hearts, as last year 1,500 of their employees in the Philippines were directly impacted by this tragedy.
The DDC Group has spent time over the past year helping victims and their families recover from the disaster and re-build their lives. Trevalyan delivered a moving speech at the event, shedding light on some of the traumas they faced following the typhoon to drive home the significance of all money donated.
The night's entertainment included stilt walkers dressed in Halloween attire, a silk aerial artist, contortionist, fire dancers, musical fireworks, bonfire, VW camper van photo booth, ice cream truck, coffee unit, two course meal served by D’Vine Catering, Steve Charles singing Motown and DJ Danny Bee from 97.4 Rock FM finished with a DJ set.
The incredible fireworks display was presented by Musical Fireworks Champions Blitz Fireworks and featured thousands of fireworks shot into the sky during the chart song “Happy” and then Pavarotti’s “Nessun Dorma.” A number of guests were reportedly reduced to tears and commented that they had never seen anything like it. Madison Jordan, a representative of The DDC Group who attended the event all the way from the U.S., commented: This is the best fireworks display I've ever seen; much better than the show at Walt Disney World."
According to Trevalyan, this is just the beginning.
"We are stepping it up for the future by offering a turnkey operation, now that we have proved it works here," he disclosed. "Eventually, we would like to build Yabba Dabba Doo to 100 qualifying venues around the UK, and make it the single largest function night of the year; the largest grossing charity event."
The night was organized and ran by Chantelle Latham of Having a Ball Events, who worked closely with Trevalyan and John Latham for months prior to the scheduled date. Having a Ball is a Southport based Events Company, specializing in the organizing and running of events and bars. http://www.havingaballevents.com
