LibertyX Announces National Expansion - Consumers Can Now Purchase Bitcoin at 2,500 Locations Across 33 States
Boston, MA (PRWEB) December 03, 2014 -- LibertyX, the financial services company that launched the first bitcoin ATM in the United States has announced its national expansion allowing consumers to purchase bitcoin at over 2,500 locations in 33 states across the country. This expansion will provide U.S. customers with the cheapest, fastest, safest, and most convenient local bitcoin option available.
Effective immediately, consumers will be able to purchase bitcoin at the cashier at conveniently located neighborhood stores around the country. To find the the location nearest you, please visit libertyx.com/store. Many are calling these locations “LTMs,” or “LibertyX Teller Machines.”
Chris Yim, LibertyX Co-founder and MIT alumnus explains, “After our installations at MIT and Harvard, we were inundated with requests to place LibertyX bitcoin ATMs across the country. We spent the last several months building a highly scalable bitcoin purchasing solution to address these previously underserved markets. We are excited to launch this new retail store channel that removes access as a major remaining barrier of bitcoin adoption.”
Consumers can expect the same simple-to-use and customer service-focused experience from LibertyX. They will be able to purchase bitcoin instantly, in-person, and without a bank, instead of waiting for up to a week online where they are subject to volatility in the interim.
Co-founder Kyle Powers adds, “We’ve been the go-to bitcoin solution for thousands of consumers already from our modest base of 4 machines. That successful proof of concept set the stage for this integration, which will help us grow by a several orders of magnitude. We continue to believe the cash channel is important for bringing bitcoin to those who will benefit from it the most.”
With over 80,000 companies such as Dell, Expedia, Overstock, PayPal accepting bitcoin, the MIT Bitcoin Project providing $100 of bitcoin to every undergraduate student, and transaction volumes consistently increasing across the globe, bitcoin is quickly becoming mainstream.
