#WomenWOW – Kenneth Cole, Mariska Hargitay, Michael Stars Support “Women Wednesday” - A Movement to Celebrate, Empower & Support Women-Owned Businesses and Causes
(PRWEB) December 03, 2014 -- The Launch of a Global Movement to Celebrate, Empower and Support Women-Owned Businesses and Causes Worldwide December 3rd, 2014
“There is Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday, but why isn't there a day to support Women?!” - Wendy Diamond, Founder of #WomenWOW – Women Wednesday
December 3rd marks the inaugural launch of Women Wednesday, a promotional Certified Business Program (WCBP) event to identify and support women-owned or women-led businesses and causes globally. This program will launch as an international social media campaign with the hashtag #WomenWOW geared towards capturing the attention similar to Giving Tuesday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.
The launch of #WomenWOW was activated through a network of companies as a platform of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day on November 19, 2014 by the Founder and CEO of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day & Animal Fair Media, Wendy Diamond. The campaign features women worldwide that have pioneered products, original organizations and creative causes that help empower women and girls globally. Supporters that have joined the movement include: Christy Turlington’s organization Every Mother Counts, Tamara Mellon, Smart Girls Group, Contemporary clothing brand Michael Stars and their charity partner Mariska Hargitay's Joyful Heart Foundation, clothing brand Kenneth Cole and the Kenneth Cole Foundation, Women Thrive Worldwide, Treatmint Box and TRUDOG!
Tamara Mellon, co-founder of Jimmy Choo and creator of TAMARA MELLON shared business advice during Women's Entrepreneurship Day (WED) on what she would have done differently as a young female entrepreneur, "Not be so afraid to speak up and ask for help." #WomenWOW is the day to start!
When women are provided economic empowerment, they outspend men on their family’s health, nutrition and education by threefold: 90% women to 30% men. This helps to uplift and build communities. However, #WomenWOW is not just for women, it supports women. Men, women and young people can support in numerous ways whether it be donating to a female driven cause or shopping at a female-owned business. The gesture is small, but the impact is enormous.
Diamond shared, “In the future, we hope to see people lining up at outrageous hours in the morning to support women-owned businesses, causes, and products, and not just buying 65” flat screen TVs! If #WomenWOW started when Black Friday did, WE believe the world would be a better place!”
#WomenWOW encourages followers to get social for the inaugural launch of Women Wednesday. Additionally, Women’s Entrepreneurship Day is launching the WED Certification Program to elevate women entrepreneurs in support of their businesses through the #WomenWOW movement.
