The Brigitte and Bobby Sherman Children’s Foundation (BBSCF) is launching its annual fundraiser to raise $6,000 to pay the school tuition for 10 high potential but underprivileged students in the city of Ada, Ghana.

When we talk about our work in Ghana, we do not refer to ending the cycle of poverty. Instead, we talk about starting the cycle of success for our students, their families and the community.

Today 30 students in Ghana are enrolled in a unique education and music program funded by the Brigitte & Bobby Sherman Children’s Foundation (BBSCF). With 3 years of operating success, BBSCF’s main goal in 2015 is to recruit and enroll 10 more deserving students.

The current students receive school tuition, after school tutoring and music lessons in the cities of Accra and Ada. They were selected for their academic potential, desire to succeed and financial need. Since their participation in the program, their grades have improved and their musical skills are flourishing. The results support numerous studies that document the positive impact of music on brain development.

“The name of our fundraiser is “Start the Cycle”, said Brigitte Poublon, BBSCF Co-founder and CEO. “When we talk about our work in Ghana, we do not refer to ending the cycle of poverty. Instead, we talk about starting the cycle of success for our students, their families and the community. In 2015 we need your help to start the cycle of success for 10 new students.”
