Tag Systems Respond to Plea for Help from Bird Sanctuary
Hemswell, Lincolnshire (PRWEB UK) 3 December 2014 -- A total of 150 birds were killed in a series of attacks over the past 18 months at a Bird Sanctuary in Mawdesley. When they started to raise money for a CCTV System Tag Systems stepped in and installed a series of cameras free of charge.
There have been 120 birds killed since September and include one day old chicks and ducklings, geese, bantams, hens, ducks, ornamental ducks, and cockerels. Lewis Russell runs the Bird Rescue Sanctuary in Lancashire. He believes that the birds are being killed deliberately by someone going onto the site off Hall Lane.
Lewis told The Star: “No fox or mink or other predator could have done that. A human being has done that.
“It’s what we believe to be a statement killing.
“That’s very sick, but it’s also very worrying that there is someone walking around willing to do this.”
There are only 25 birds left at the sanctuary now which is a not-for-profit organisation. The team take in ill, injured or unwanted birds. A plea for help was placed on Facebook and amplified through local and national press. The response was heart-warming. When Russell announced plans to raise the thousands of pounds needed to purchase a CCTV system and install it on site Tag Systems offered their services.
A generator firm from Yorkshire donated a 12kva silent running diesel generator to power the cameras supplied and installed by Tag Systems. A heartfelt thank you was placed on Facebook by the happy recipients which stated:
“The few remaining birds have not seen any sign of the alleged "Mr Fox" once again from the bottom of our and the birds hearts we sincerely thank all that have made this possible, please share some positive news as we all need it every now and then.”
Tag Systems were happy to help. Tracy Cording said: “When a non-for-profit organisation is faced with this kind of inhuman sabotage we wouldn’t be in the business we are if we didn’t feel a duty to help! I hope that moving forward the perpetrators get the message and stay off the property and away from the remaining birds.”
