Omaha, Neb. (PRWEB) December 03, 2014 -- Support veterans and enjoy a spaghetti dinner for $5 per person from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Great Plains Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7612 Maple St., Omaha.
The proceeds from the event will support more than 800 veterans who will converge on Omaha Aug. 8 – 12, 2015, to participate in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs 29th National Veterans Golden Age Games.
The VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System is hosting the annual event. Veterans who are 55 years of age and older, and who are enrolled in the VA health care system, will travel to Omaha from across the nation to compete in air rifle, badminton, bowling, dominoes, golf, horseshoes, nine ball, shuffleboard, swimming, table tennis, track and field events including discus, shot and javelin.
Registration for the event opens in December.

The National Veterans Golden Age Games is the only national multi-event sports and recreational seniors’ competition program designed to improve the quality of life for all older veterans, including those with a wide range of abilities and disabilities. The NVGAG is one of the most progressive and adaptive rehabilitative senior sports programs in the world. The games serve as a qualifying event for competition in the National Senior Games in a number of competitive events.
