Connecticut Innovations Video Campaign Uses Humor to Highlight Diversity of Innovations in Venture Portfolio
ROCKY HILL, Conn. The video features three CEOs–Ellie Tandler of Madison-based NovaTract Surgical; Oni Chukwu of Norwalk-based etouches; and Andy Greenawalt of New Haven-based Continuity Control.
“There's a perception that it's difficult to do business in Connecticut, but in fact, we hear all the time from our portfolio companies that it's a great place to start and grow a company,” said Claire Leonardi, CEO of Connecticut Innovations. “Through this video, we set out to highlight the dynamic types of companies starting up in Connecticut; provide an understanding of why the state is an attractive place to do business; and share a four-minute comedic performance from our illustrious limo driver.”
With the introduction of the video, Connecticut Innovations also launched a social campaign that encourages people to test their knowledge of Connecticut inventions through an http://www..ctinnovations.com/ventureadventure [interactive quiz __title__ ]. Participants can enter for a chance to win a drone or other technology innovations.
“We wanted to entertain the audience, and we thought humor would be a great way to create a memorable asset,” said Amy Hourigan, vice president of marketing at Connecticut Innovations. “Scientists tell us that the average attention span of a human is now shorter than that of a goldfish, so we knew we had to make our story engaging. Our goal was to leave viewers with a better sense of the diversity of innovations in our portfolio and the amazing technologies that are being created in our state, all while putting a smile on their face.”
The video was directed and produced by Astor Place, a video, digital media and creative production agency in New London.
