Scott J. Bornstein, shareholder with the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, and Yusuf Cassim, VP and associate general counsel for Charles Schwab, will speak on the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Financial Services Committee’s webcast titled “Impact of Recent Supreme Court and Federal Circuit Decisions on Patentability and Enforceability of Financial Services Patents” on Dec. 4, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Hosted by the ACC and sponsored by Greenberg Traurig, Bornstein and Cassim will discuss: historical patent procurement and litigation in the financial service industry; updates on recent Supreme Court and Federal Circuit case law; the likely impact of recent decisions on ability to obtain and enforce financial services patents; and creative strategies for defending against financial services non-practicing entities ("NPE") litigation.
According to the ACC’s website, the Financial Services Committee provides resources and services to members of the association who serve clients in securities, insurance and other financial services businesses. Current issues of interest include case law, legislation and enforcement related to the subprime/credit crisis.
As chair of Greenberg Traurig’s New York Intellectual Property & Technology Practice and co-chair of the firm’s Global Patent Litigation Group, Bornstein has extensive patent trial experience and has served as lead counsel in more than 100 patent litigations.
