Greenberg Traurig has Nationwide Representation with Chair and Speakers at 2014 Patent Disputes Forum

The forum takes place Thursday, Dec. 4, in Santa Clara.
Jeffrey. K. Joyner, shareholder in the firm’s Los Angeles office, is the conference co-chair for the fifth consecutive year and will moderate the panel, “Patent Aggregators and Their Influence on the Legal Landscape.” Joyner also served as co-chair for the recent Patent Disputes Forum in Orange County. James J.DeCarlo, shareholder of the New Jersey and New York offices, will speak on the panel,”Inter Partes Reviews: What Have We Really Learned?” and Dwayne L. Mason, shareholder of the Houston office, will present on the panel,“Patent Law Before the Supreme Court in 2014.” This is also Mason’s fifth year presenting at this annual conference.
According to the West LegalEdcenter website, the Santa Clara Patent Disputes Forum brings together “thought-makers and key players in patent litigation and corporate practice who will share their knowledge, experience and insight into the most recent issues in patent disputes. Panels will include perspectives from both in-house counsel and law firm litigators who will discuss the most relevant issues in today's patent disputes areas, as well as an ethics panel aimed specifically at IP practitioners.”
Joyner represents Fortune 500 international and domestic companies in patent, trademark and copyright litigation, including serving as lead trial counsel. His focus includes defending numerous companies in large joint defense groups as lead counsel in patent actions brought against multiple defendants in jurisdictions throughout the United States, such as the Eastern District of Texas and Northern and Central Districts of California, with respect to many technologies ranging from interactive website technology to medical devices and from game devices to plastics. Joyner serves on the Leadership Council of the Los Angeles CleanTech Incubator and on the boards of the Westside Music Foundation and Seven Arrows School. He is co-chair of the e4Mobility Alliance and a member of the Green Economy Committee for the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation.
DeCarlo, a registered patent attorney and electrical engineer, is actively involved in virtually all aspects of intellectual property counseling. His experience includes litigating patent matters in District Courts around the country, handling matters before the PTAB, counseling clients on the strategic use and management of intellectual property assets and drafting infringement, validity and freedom to operate opinions. DeCarlo also counsels clients on the drafting and negotiating of complex technology agreements and directs the prosecution of patent applications in areas such as electronic commerce, cloud computing, virtual and augmented reality, streaming media, Internet search engines, search advertising, client/server systems, mobile and land based telecommunications, and computer software and hardware. In addition, his matters have covered other wide-ranging technology areas including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, semiconductors, fiber optics, cameras, manufacturing, toys, pulp and paper, steel production, electronics and electro-mechanical devices.
Mason serves as head of the firm’s Texas Intellectual Property Litigation Practice. His practice focuses on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and technology-based commercial litigation. He also manages patent and trademark portfolios, and assists companies in protecting and commercializing their intellectual property. Mason has litigated numerous intellectual property disputes in various state and federal district courts, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal and 5th Circuits, and in domestic and international arbitration proceedings before the American Arbitration Association and International Chamber of Commerce.
