The two leading business architecture professional associations have agreed to combine their members, along with their knowledge, expertise and assets, under the Business Architecture Guild. The Guild is effectively acquiring the assets of BAA, and BAA will dissolve as an entity. BAA members, not already Guild members, will transfer automatically to the Guild with a pre-paid 6 month membership. Members with the current CBA® certification will be recognized, and granted an equivalent certification designation in the Guild’s upcoming certification program.transfer automatically to the Guild with a pre-paid 6 month membership. Members with the current CBA® certification will be recognized, and granted an equivalent certification designation in the Guild’s upcoming certification program.
The primary objective of unifying the Guild and BAA is to create the preeminent business architecture organization supporting collaboration, education, thought leadership, and certification for practitioners, project participants, and business architecture beneficiaries. Joining forces allows the Guild to speak with a single voice, while continuing to engage the merged membership to develop the definitive source of business architecture content within “A Guide to the Business Architecture Body of Knowledge™ (BIZBOK® Guide)”, and to extend and deploy an expanded authoritative business architecture certification program that builds on the program created and managed by the BAA team.
The Business Architecture Guild and the Business Architects Association bring many strengths together. The Guild’s focus on the discipline of business architecture, combined with BAA’s focus on business architects as practitioners, combines two indispensable perspectives into a single organization. Individually, each organization brings several key strengths together that are more valuable than their individual parts.
The Guild’s key strengths are:
- Membership strength
- Business architecture thought leadership
- Extensive practitioner/experience-defined best-practice content
- A mature and effective member engagement environment for content and certification development through collaborative teams, where members connect and contribute their expertise and experience.
BAA’s strengths are:
- Business architecture thought leadership
- Certification content & experience
- Academic connections
“Our joining forces represents a major step for the business architecture discipline, providing a demonstrable level of industry alignment that will benefit practitioners worldwide,” said William Ulrich, President and Cofounder of the Business Architecture Guild. “We are excited to have BAA expertise join in Guild efforts to mature our certification program, academic outreach and other programs going forward. And I offer a special welcome to BAA members joining the Guild community.”
"The consolidation of our two associations under the Guild is a major step in reinforcing the common voice on Business business Architecture architecture in the marketplace,” said Sebastian Escobar, President of the Business Architects Association. “In addition, this industry alignment allows both associations to leverage each other’s expertise and assets to mature important programs like certification and academic outreach. We are excited to be part of the Guild community and looking forward to being able to strengthen the business architecture discipline.
The Guild will provide additional updates on progress towards important initiatives in the near future, including business architecture certification, academic outreach, and certification of third party training programs.
