Comcast Director of Community Investment Elected to Non-profit's International Board

Easter Seals has elected Fred J. Maahs, Jr. to join the organization’s International Board of Directors.

Maahs is Director of Community Investment and National Partnerships at Comcast’s Philadelphia-based corporate headquarters. He also serves as Vice President of the Comcast Foundation, which has donated more than $153 million in the last 15 years to organizations in the communities nationwide that Comcast serves.

Maahs is a longstanding advocate for people living with disabilities and previously served as the Director of Communications for Easter Seals Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Currently, Maahs is Chairman of the Board of the American Association of People with Disabilities, a member of the United Way Worldwide Global Corporate Leadership Council, and an Advisory Board Member of the U.S. Business Leadership Network.

As part of Maahs’ role with the Comcast Foundation, he helps to oversee the Easter Seals Comcast Assistive Technology Grant Fund. Established in 2012, the fund empowers individuals living with disabilities by providing expanded assistive technology training and services. Individuals benefitting from these grants include children and adults living with developmental disabilities, like Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as veterans. To date, the fund has helped an estimated 25,000 Americans.

“We thank Fred J. Maahs and the Comcast Foundation for their continued investment in assistive technology solutions for individuals living with disabilities in their communities,” said James E. Williams, Jr., president and chief executive officer, Easter Seals. “Fred is a champion for the disability community, and the entire Easter Seals family is delighted he has accepted a leadership role on Easter Seals International Board of Directors.”

“Easter Seals provides crucial services to people with disabilities, and I am honored to work with the organization and serve on the International Board of Directors to continue my advocacy on behalf of them,” said Maahs. “I am excited to further develop the relationship between Comcast and Easter Seals by continuing to explore the possibilities of assistive technology.”
