The RadBeacon X2 is a Bluetooth Smart™ proximity multi-beacon using iBeacon™ and AltBeacon™ technology that provides seamless proximity services for mobile applications on both iOS and Android mobile devices. Rugged, weatherproof, and temperature-resistant, the RadBeacon X2 is powered by 2 AA batteries and can be flexibly installed in any location, regardless of available power.

Radius Networks, Inc., the leading provider of mobile proximity services, today announced the release of its RadBeacon X2 Bluetooth Smart proximity multi-beacon with iBeacon and AltBeacon technology.

Powered by two AA batteries, the RadBeacon X2 provides extended battery life at full iBeacon and AltBeacon-compliant advertising rates. The X2’s fully ruggedized and weatherproof enclosure makes it capable of withstanding extreme temperature and weather conditions. The RadBeacon X2 is perfect for outdoor installations, industrial environments and anyplace where high uptime and long battery life is an absolute requirement.

Proximity multi-beacons with iBeacon and AltBeacon technology are short range, low power, Bluetooth Smart transmitters that can notify mobile devices when they come within 100 feet of the beacon. This micro-location proximity awareness can be leveraged to deliver a wide range of new innovative solutions, such as precision indoor navigation, automatic ticketing, guided museum tours and location-relevant offers and promotions.

“We developed the RadBeacon X2 in partnership with our customers who require flexible, powerful beacon solutions that can go anywhere and withstand any challenge. The RadBeacon X2 has been through extensive customer field trials, including environmentally-demanding places where power is not readily available such as parking facilities, fueling stations, industrial manufacturing plants and outdoor retail and restaurant locations. The RadBeacon X2 delivers long battery life with minimal maintenance effort, all without compromising advertising performance and universal proximity services support for both the iOS and Android ecosystems,” said David Helms, Chief Product Officer at Radius Networks.

“This development effort gave us the opportunity to take our beacon fleet management capabilities to the next level as well as extend multi-beacon functionality across all of our family of RadBeacon products,” said Chris Sexton, Director of Software Engineering for Radius Networks. “The RadBeacon X2 announced today is just the first in a suite of new technologies and capabilities that will be coming thanks to this effort.”

“The RadBeacon X2 is a great addition to our suite of products that leverage iBeacon and AltBeacon technology. There are now millions of users leveraging Radius Networks’ beacon developer kits, developer tools, and our ProximityKit cloud services and mobile SDKs for iOS and Android devices. The introduction of the RadBeacon X2 proximity multi-beacon is continued proof that Radius Networks is the market leader in the enabling technologies that are helping major brands and solution developers deliver real mobile proximity solutions to their customers.”

The RadBeacon X2 is fully FCC, IC and CE-certified, and immediately available for sale and shipment worldwide. Learn more about the features of the RadBeacon X2 by visiting the Radius Networks website today.
