Wayne Farms’ General Manager and Vice President of Further Processing, John Flood, was recently honored with the William J. Tobin Award at the 2014 International Foodservice Manufacturers Association’s (IFMA) Presidents Conference held in Phoenix, Arizona. IFMA’s prestigious William J. Tobin Award honors an industry executive who has made notable and lasting contributions to foodservice education.
IFMA’s Educational Foundation has provided for hundreds of scholarships over its 50 year history. Flood was introduced to the world of foodservice during college when he received an internship from the IFMA Educational Foundation. He understands firsthand how supporting future leaders will better the industry and says, "When you find your passion, you will be successful."
Flood explains: “IFMA is the reason I am in foodservice today. I had an opportunity to receive an IFMA Educational Foundation internship while in college. IFMA changed my direction and my life. My advice to others not familiar with IFMA’s Foundation is to get involved and support others like me - it does make a difference!”
The IFMA Educational Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, promotes the next generation of foodservice leaders by giving support to qualified culinary, marketing or food science students. Since 1972, the IFMA Educational Foundation has awarded more than $1MM in scholarships.
