Addicting-to-collect Wristband Company Zox Matched Holiday Purchases with Toys for Tots Donations
(PRWEB) December 09, 2014 -- Since the three Kuipers brothers started Zox on their parent’s kitchen table in November of 2010, they’ve been on a mission to create your new favorite wristband. What started as a family arts and crafts night quickly spread throughout their West Michigan community and is now sold in over countries all around the world. Despite having relocated to California, Zox has kept true to its Midwestern roots.
“Going through high school in Michigan during the recession was tough,” stated 21-year-old Brandon Kuipers, the ‘Middle Bro’ at Zox. “I wanted to do something unique that reminds the folks who are still struggling that there are people that care. When you bring together a community of people like that from all around the world, beautiful things start to happen.”
The Sunday before Black Friday, Zox announced their plan. Rather than discounting prices like most retailers, they decided they were going to match each purchase with a donation to Toys for Tots.
“It was seriously awesome to see so many people show up, especially without the allure of a sale. I think that just goes to show that doing good for will always be cool,” said 30-year-old Jason Kuipers, the ‘Big Bro’ at Zox.
Over the course of the sale Zox was able to sell 787 units, 150 more than the previous year when they marked down prices by 50%. On Monday, they announced they’d be doubling their original commitment and donating a total of 1,574 Zox.
“Our goal was to donate 1,000 Straps to Toys for Tots and so we were kind of bummed we weren’t able to hit that. Since we wanted as many kids as possible to have an awesome Christmas, my brothers and I decided to double the donation,” said 17-year-old Jordan Kuipers, affectionately known as the “Little Bro” at Zox.
Thanks to Zox, 1,574 kids around the country will have a better Christmas this year. Their current plan is send their donation to Toys for Tots in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and their hometown of Grand Rapids.
