Symantec Corp. Utilizes Radiant RFID’s Virtual Asset Tracker (VAT) for Company’s Data Centers
Austin, TX (PRWEB) December 09, 2014 -- After a comprehensive qualification process, Symantec Corp. selected Radiant RFID to implement Virtual Asset Tracker (VAT), a passive-based RFID asset tracking solution, in three of the company’s data centers. Radiant was selected based on the RFID company’s record of success in data center environments.
Like many of Radiant’s customers, Symantec required a solution that enables users to quickly and reliably manage physical locations of the company’s data center assets. VAT not only handles the “where is my…” question with speed, reliability, and ease, but managers and chief financial officers are able to successfully respond to audits and improve overall asset tracking accuracy and efficiency.
During an audit, VAT quickly reports what assets are assigned to, located within, or missing from a location. This information enables administrators to rapidly and accurately reconcile inventory and account for asset movement, reducing inventory time by 90% and greatly increasing visibility.
VAT’s leading-edge capabilities enable customers like Symantec to better solve complex organizational challenges, including real-time notification when assets are moved between locations; ability to perform accurate inventory down to a blade and drive level; advanced mapping; logic-based reporting and subscriptions with automated asset flagging; an easy-to-use, modern UI with configurable dashboards, and API integration.
Like many customers, Symantec has existing software systems in use and required VAT to seamlessly integrate and share data with these systems. Radiant is deploying a passive-based RFID solution that includes traditional handheld and fixed RFID readers, UHF Gen2 RFID tags, hosted RFID software, tagging services, on-site training, and ongoing customer support. Additionally, Symantec will deploy Radiant’s VAT2Go app for greater visibility and tracking of assets. VAT 2Go is an iOS and Android smart device app that handles the functionality of a traditional handheld RFID reader.
