David & Laura Merage of Colorado Attend President Obama’s White House Summit on Early Education
Englewood, Colorado (PRWEB) December 10, 2014 -- This summit builds on the President’s call in his 2013 State of the Union address to expand access to high-quality early childhood education to every child in America. As part of that effort, the President proposed a series of new investments that will establish a continuum of high-quality early learning for a child—beginning at birth and continuing to age five as part of the Invest in US challenge. Invest in US also comes on the heels of growing public and private investment in early childhood development. The departments of Education and Health and Human Services will announce $750 million in new grants for early learning programs. Additionally, the President will also highlight new private sector commitments to expand children’s early learning opportunities, including the David & Laura Merage Foundations’ renewed commitment to Early Learning Ventures, an innovative shared services model for the child care industry that allows child care providers to deliver affordable, high-quality early care and education (ECE) by giving them tools and resources to streamline their business operations. ELV is currently serving more than 580 child care businesses and impacting 40,000+ children in Colorado. With proven results, and evidence through an independent study showing up to $8 for each dollar invested, the David & Laura Merage Foundation is now making a ten year commitment to bring this model to providers across the nation.
“I have been pleased to see the President’s commitment to early childhood education making some positive strides towards ensuring quality education access for our youngest children is available to all,” said David Merage. “We have an important responsibility to provide high-quality education to our children, and Laura and I are committed to doing everything we can to help this critical movement,” David added.
