The Fossil Cartel: One of the Last Local Independent Stores To Leave Pioneer Place
Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) December 10, 2014 -- The Fossil Cartel, a local Portland retail shop featuring jewelry, gemstones, minerals, crystals, meteorites, fossils and other intriguing items since 1989, is moving out of Pioneer Place in early January 2015. The Fossil Cartel is the last local independent store in Pioneer Place.
The Fossil Cartel’s new location is 333 SW Taylor next to Foot Traffic in the Gilbert Building, a beautiful brick building built in 1893 and on the National Historic Registry. The new space has just been renovated and is ready for new life. Ann Scheuerell at SRM is crafting the new design, a fun creative collaboration preserving the essence of the store while incorporating fresh new elements.
In August 2014 The Fossil Cartel celebrated 25 years in business! In a blog post from The Fossil Cartel website, owner Susan Landa writes, “While we are grateful for our time at Pioneer Place, we have also come to realize its limitations. For instance: we cannot have after-hours events and many of our customers don’t enjoy visiting the mall. Because we are a small, locally owned business and would like to shine as one, it doesn’t make sense anymore to be associated with a mall full of national chain stores. Location is extremely important in retail; also important is what you bring to the space. We intend to bring magic to our new home and cannot wait to share it with you!”
The Fossil Cartel’s last day at Pioneer Place is December 31, 2014. The new location is slated to reopen by January 9, 2014 at 333 SW Taylor. The new store hours will be Mon - Sat 10 - 8 and Sun 12 - 5. Please visit the website blog to follow the move: http://www.fossilcartel.com/blog/
