App Studio is the cloud-based digital publishing solution that helps users create interactive apps using the content creation tool of their choice, whether it be InDesign, QuarkXPress, HTML5 or XML. A new app from Lufthansa Cargo is one of the latest to join hundreds of App Studio apps from brands including Metro, the British Medical Journal and Louis Vuitton.

A full case study about the development of the Lufthansa Cargo app is available here: http://www.quark.com/pdfs/15604SS_Lufthansa_US_Web.pdf.

Lufthansa Cargo is a global player in the field of air cargo, with 1.7 million tons of freight transported in 2013. Close to 4,600 staff members ensure the cargo entrusted to them arrives on time at more than 300 destinations in nearly 100 countries.

To communicate with employees and customers around the world, Lufthansa Cargo engaged with the agency PRH Hamburg to develop a corporate tablet and smartphone app featuring key details about the company such as information on its fleet, network, infrastructure, products and corporate responsibility. Lufthansa Cargo wanted the sales enablement app to empower its employees when speaking with customers as well as engage cargo and aircraft enthusiasts.

PRH Hamburg chose to design the corporate app for Lufthansa Cargo with App Studio. As a cloud-based solution, App Studio allows a number of members on the creative and editorial teams to work on the app simultaneously without affecting each other’s work. The multilingual implementation of App Studio also allows the agency’s translators to enter regional versions directly into the layout, eliminating cycle time and rework.

Originally envisioned as a toolkit for Lufthansa Cargo‘s top management and sales staff, the Lufthansa Cargo app is now publicly available on the iTunes Store, Google Play Store and as a Web app. It is available as a free download: http://www.lufthansa-cargo.com/companyapp.
