Dr. Jacob Reider Announced as Keynote Speaker for Hixny Connects 2014
Albany, New York (PRWEB) December 09, 2014 -- Dr. Jacob Reider is returning to the Capital District after serving three years at the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and will be delivering the keynote speech at Hixny Connects 2014. The annual event is held by Hixny, a regional health information organization (RHIO), which provides patients and clinicians with real-time electronic access to patients’ comprehensive medical history for making timely, informed care decisions. Hixny’s region includes more than 1.7 million patients in the Capital District, Northern New York and the Mohawk Valley.
Jacob Reider, MD is a family physician with 20 years of experience in health information technology and special interest in clinical innovation, user experience, and clinical decision support. Reider started his career as an attending Physician in the Albany Medical Family Medicine Residency Program. Then he became Associate Dean of Biomedical Informatics at Albany Medical College, Medical Director of Hospital Informatics at Albany Medical Center Hospital and Medical Director of Clinical Systems at CapitalCare Medical Group. While at CapitalCare, Reider served on Hixny’s founding board in 2006 and 2007.
Most recently Reider served in Washington D.C. as Deputy National Coordinator at ONC. His responsibilities at HHS included financial, operational and policy leadership with a focus on the ONC electronic Health Record certification program, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Meaningful Use incentive programs.
This will be Dr. Reider’s first public appearance since returning to the Capital District from his tenure at ONC last month. Reider will be presenting his discussion of “Health 3.0: Volume to Value & Technology’s Role.” Dr. Reider will be sharing his expertise on Health IT: what we can expect, the role of innovation and its impact within the industry, how the federal government is supporting these advances and his thoughts on how Health IT will evolve in the coming years.
Hundreds of healthcare professionals, business leaders, government officials and community advocates will gather for Hixny Connects 2014 on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 5pm – 8pm at Franklin Plaza, 4 4th Street, Troy NY.
