New Children’s Book by Fran Cantwell Stars Trio of Friends
NEWARK, Ohio – (PRWEB) December 10, 2014 -- It’s not always easy to be a role model, especially when friends are different. This new children’s book shows what can happen when a butterfly, chipmunk and queen bee decide they want to set a good example for those around them to follow, even if that isn’t always easy.
The trouble starts when Lady Butterfly wakes up with a puffy nose and stuffed-up head. She can’t seem to find the flower she’s supposed to visit because she can’t smell anything. Queen Bee isn’t doing much better; she can’t hear anything because her ears hurt from some dust. Luckily a little rest and quiet soon help them feel better. It’s their friend Sir Chipmunk, however, who saves the day by staying calm and helping each of them out.
“Sir Chipmunk, Lady Butterfly and Queen Bee” shares a lesson of the power of helping others and getting along, no matter how trying the circumstances. Others can learn from their examples of kindness, respect and love – being on their best behavior. The rhyming story is appropriate for reading aloud or for slightly older readers to read silently. Vivid colors enhance the bold illustrations Will Marcum created for the book.
Author Fran Cantwell, a freelance playwright and poet, has degrees in early childhood. The mother of eight and grandmother of 26 also wrote “Blueberry Pickin’” and “The Amusement Park.” She and her husband, Dave, live in Granville, Ohio, with six Chihuahuas.
Illustrator Will Marcum has a fine arts degree from Columbus College of Art and Design. Comics and cartoons influence his illustrations, although his expertise includes logo design, caricatures, portraits, murals and children’s books. He and his wife live in Johnstown, Ohio.
