“The Bruce Willis Ski Home”

Bruce Willis became one of Hollywood’s most popular actors by taking the long route around. From a stuttering teen who found a reprieve while on stage in a high school acting class, who went on to security guard, a real-life private investigator and bartender to a film actor and musician whose films have exceeded $2.5 billion in box office ticket sales, Bruce is one of Hollywood’s top ten box office draws.

Willis struck gold when he beat out over 2,000 other actors for the male lead role with Cybill Shepherd in “Moonlighting,” an ABC hit from 1985 to 1989 with Bruce playing a smart aleck private detective. His performances won him an Emmy in 1987 for Best Actor and established his talent for comedy. From there, he started taking film parts which led to his massive money-making box office hits, the “Die Hard” film franchise, five so far, along with a huge list of other highly popular films. Still not missing a beat, he has starred in five films just over the last two years with three more to be released in 2015.

Once high-paid celebrities start enjoying the good life and looking for new challenges, many such as Brad Pitt, Ellen DeGerneres and Diane Keaton turn their talents to real estate. Willis is one of the most prolific. He owns or has owned property in Beverly Hills, New Jersey, New York City, Malibu, Montana, a beach home on Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos Islands, multiple properties in Idaho, and has recently purchased a $9 million 8,000-square-foot shingle-sided mansion on 14 acres in Bedford, New York.

When married to Demi Moore, the Willises were particularly active in Sun Valley, Idaho in the town of Hailey, where they bought a home and extra acreage and spent a fortune on renovations and landscaping to enhance their view of Flying Heart Lake. They also invested heavily in the town itself by restoring the movie theatre and purchasing a bar and restaurant which they also refurbished, bringing new tourist trade to the town.

Now remarried to model Emma Heming, a heavy movie workload and gravitating more toward East Coast living, Willis has put the Hailey ski home on the market. The 8,403-square-foot home sits on 20 heavily wooded acres on private Flying Heart Lake with multiple ponds and streams. The six-bedroom, seven-bath house has heated terraces, balconies and driveway with vaulted ceilings, mountain and lake views, three fireplaces and large gourmet kitchen. The 2,200-square-foot master suite has a fireplace and sitting area with jetted soaking tub, granite steam shower and large walk-in closet and dressing room with built-in dressers and shelving. Outside is a resort-size heated swimming pool with waterfalls. Even with its gated security and acreage, the estate is only minutes away from skiing, hiking, biking, live music and theater.

“Die Hard” super star, Bruce Willis’ grand Sun Valley estate in Hailey, Idaho is for sale. Originally priced at $15 million, now priced at $7.05 million. The listing agent is Janine Bear of Sun Valley Sotheby's International Realty in Ketchum, Idaho.
