The “Tools For Sad Times” community event will be held on Dec. 17.

In response to the large amount of grief and loss in the community, St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, in Mahtomedi, Minnesota, will host “Tools for Sad Times” from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

“Many people in our neighborhoods are surrounded by sadness as families and youth have lost parents, as well as suicides and tragic accidental deaths,” stated Lead Pastor Mike Carlson. “This is a way for us as a community to gather together and receive tools to support one another.”

The event is free and open to all ages and faiths, and it will feature a large gathering as well as break-out sessions, individual counseling, prayer, literature and other tools. It is sponsored by St. Andrew’s, Lutheran Social Services, and Bradshaw Celebration of Life Centers. Nursery is available.

“We want to help shine a light in the lives of those who are experiencing darkness,” Carlson said, “and to support people and give them hope. We want to provide real help and tools for individuals and the community to respond and support each other.”
