Hudiburg Nissan Honors 30th Work Anniversary of Trusted Employee

Employee has risen from janitorial to management position in 30 years of loyal service to the company.

When the employees of Hudiburg Nissan celebrate Christmas Eve this year, the business will also be celebrating the 30th work anniversary of Assistant Service Manager Marvin Johnson.

“This company has been a big blessing in my life, and if I had to stop working tomorrow, I would be happy because of everything I’ve accomplished and experienced while at Hudiburg,” Johnson said.

Johnson filled out his application to work as a janitor at Hudiburg Nissan on Dec. 23, 1984, and was hired the next day. He was particularly eager to find a position before the holidays, he said.

And although he was hired as a janitor, he soon began advancing in the company. He worked as a lube technician before being promoted to technician helper, then technician, dispatcher, service consultant and, finally, assistant service manager.

“Marvin has grown so much as an employee and as a person during his time here at Hudiburg,” said Brad Deterding, the company’s new car manager.

As the assistant service manager, Johnson is responsible for training service consultants and taking care of customers. He acts as a liaison between customers and technicians, handling concerns when necessary and ensuring the best possible customer experience.

Deterding said that Johnson uses everything he learned in his past positions to improve performance in his current duties, too. “Working in so many different positions gave him vast experience in multiple areas and helped him to understand every aspect of what we do at Hudiburg,” he explained. “That, in turn, helps him to help his customers better.”

Looking back, Johnson said he couldn’t have imagined how far he would come.

“I was a very shy individual when I started out. I never thought that I would be able to speak to customers as freely and confidently as I do now,” he shared. “Being able to work at Hudiburg has been an amazing opportunity and helped me discover things within myself that I never knew I was capable of.”
