Lowney Architecture Welcomes New Leadership Amidst Steady Growth
Oakland, CA (PRWEB) December 22, 2014 -- Lowney Architecture – one of the top 100 fastest-growing private companies in the San Francisco Bay Area as ranked by San Francisco Business Times – welcomes Elisabeth Sporer, AIA, LEED AP BD+C as principal and managing director. Ms. Sporer will oversee project management, human resources and operations, as well as work with founder and design director Ken Lowney, AIA LEED AP on business strategy at the 20-person firm.
“Elisabeth will help shape an even more expansive but sustainable future for our firm, and her extensive experience at directing architecture practice complements my roles in directing design and developing business,” says Mr. Lowney. He adds, “She has an entrepreneurial spirit which suits our firm’s approach – fast and nimble, but holistic and inclusive.”
Since establishing his namesake firm in 2003, Mr. Lowney has led its latest growth spurt, owing largely to the niche Lowney Architecture has carved in vertical retail for clients such as Safeway, Andronico’s, and Whole Foods Market, among others, and a burgeoning business in multi-unit residential and hospitality projects such as SmartSpace SoMa, a modular residential unit project in San Francisco, as well as Plank, an entertainment venue in Jack London Square, and the newly opened Clove & Hoove, a butcher restaurant, both in Oakland. Along the way, Ken created a firm which reflects his philosophy toward architecture. He explains, “Our mission is to deliver solutions which are responsive to today’s accelerated design process, environmental requirements and community needs. In this regard, we are neither a design-first nor a service firm. We are a client-first firm.”
Elisabeth operates where culture, clients, commerce and community intersect at an architecture firm. Her unique perspective – gleaned from more than 20 years of working in Germany and in the US – results from her experience, in turns, as designer, project manager, director of operations and director of practice. As she puts it, “From my varied roles at local, regional and international firms, I understand that employee morale, great design, financial success, and client satisfaction are interdependent. I am also an advocate for a firm’s community involvement as shown in Lowney Architecture’s commitment to civic projects in the Oakland metropolitan area. My professional and personal values align with Ken’s, and I am thrilled at the opportunity to work with him, our team and our clients.”
