The Hawaii Affiliate Offices of Sotheby’s International Realty announce the Creation of a Statewide Charitable Fund
Kamuela, Hawaii (PRWEB) December 12, 2014 -- On December 5th, 2014, the Hawaii Affiliate offices of Sotheby’s International Realty met on Oahu for their first Hawaii Networking Event and to announce the formation of a charitable fund to support cultural, educational and environmental causes across the Hawaiian Islands. The offices of Sleeping Giant Sotheby’s International Realty (Kauai), LIST Sotheby’s International Realty (Oahu), Island Sotheby’s International Realty (Maui) and MacArthur Sotheby’s International Realty (Big Island) joined together to form the charitable foundation under the direction of Hawaii Community Foundation.
The ‘Hawaii Affiliates of Sotheby’s International Realty Charitable Fund’ was set-up through the Hawaii Community Foundation (HFC), who has nearly a century of experience in assisting businesses in focusing their charitable giving efforts around key issues in Hawaii. HCF manages a repository of more than 650 charitable funds that have been set up by generous individuals, families, and businesses across the state to benefit the people of Hawaii. These funds reflect the charitable grant-making interests of their donors, and can vary from unrestricted grants to those for very specific areas such as scholarships or a geographical region. HCF distributes these charitable funds to Hawaii’s nonprofit organizations through a variety of grant programs.
Dodie MacArthur, CEO and owner of MacArthur Sotheby’s International Realty, commented on the establishment of the new charitable fund, “We’ve always been involved in charitable giving, but with our offices working together we can do so much more for the people of Hawaii. We chose to work with Hawaii Community Foundation because they have a solid and respected reputation for charitable works. They know the islands and will help us make the best possible decisions for our donations.”
The ‘Hawaii Affiliates of Sotheby’s International Realty Charitable Fund’ is open to anyone for contributions but will be funded primarily through the donations of the owners, agents and staff. Each year designated members from each office will meet to decide which of the hundreds of organizations suggested by the Hawaii Community Foundation will be chosen as donor recipients.
Sotheby’s International Realty was formed in 1976 as the real estate arm of Sotheby’s, the world renowned Auction Houses dating back to 1744. The Hawaii Affiliates of Sotheby’s International Realty take pride in their local roots and expertise, but also in being part of a global brand that extends to over 600 offices in 49 countries and through a referral system of 15,000 agents. The Sotheby’s International Realty website serves over 10 million visitors a year with over 80 million property views annually through its global partnerships.
