Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) December 11, 2014 -- Cotter Consulting, Inc., is proud to announce that Nahid Afsari, PE, LEED AP, Vice President and Group Leader of our Wisconsin office, has been named one of the ‘Top 20 Under 40’ by Engineering News-Record (ENR) Midwest for 2015. The award recognizes young design and construction professionals from the Midwest who have made significant contributions to their firms, professions, and communities. Nahid and the other winners will be profiled in the February 2 issue of ENR Midwest.
Nahid joined the industry as a structural engineer in 2000 after receiving a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from Purdue University, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. After stints as a bridge engineer at CH2M Hill and a project manager at Mortenson Construction, Nahid joined Cotter as a group manager in 2010 to lead the development of Cotter’s first Wisconsin office. In early 2014, she was promoted to Vice President of Cotter’s Wisconsin Group. She received a New Faces in Civil Engineering Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in 2004 and a Woman of Influence Award for Mentoring from the Milwaukee Daily Reporter in 2006.
Since 2010, Nahid’s team has landed a number of major projects for clients such as WisDOT, General Mitchell International Airport, and VA Hospitals. Recently, Nahid and her team have been providing controls work for a $950 million highway project in Wisconsin’s southwest region for WisDOT. She also led the first consultant team ever to work alongside Milwaukee VA facilities management staff, where they jointly provided project management services for approximately $81 million worth of projects at Milwaukee’s Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center.
“Nahid has been an excellent addition to the Cotter team, and she has been instrumental in the growth of our presence in Wisconsin,” says Anne Cotter, President of Cotter Consulting. “We want to congratulate Nahid on this important industry recognition.”
In addition to her work with Cotter, Nahid is also involved in the industry through her work with the University of Wisconsin Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Visiting Committee and other national industry organizations including the ACEC, ASCE, and NSPE. She is also a founding member of the Wisconsin chapter of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), where she has served as Vice President since 2011.
