Trident University International Addresses Demand For Information Security Professionals with New Cyber Security Concentration
Cypress, CA (PRWEB) December 12, 2014 -- In response to the growing demand for expertly trained information technology and security professionals, Trident University International(Trident) began offering a Cyber Security concentration in the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program effective Fall 2014 session.
The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2 sixth annual Global Information Security Workforce Study (GISWS) revealed that the lack of skilled and qualified information security professionals is negatively affecting both companies and consumers, causing a global economic ripple effect.
The (ISC)2 is a non-profit membership organization with over 100,000 information and software security professionals as members from 135 countries. Its most recent annual survey indicated that 56% of survey participants responded that the staffing shortage is significantly impacting their respective organizations.
The professional roles for which students can expect to be qualified after graduation include information assurance analyst, information security officer, security auditor, network security administrator, and forensics analyst.
“Trident University International is always analyzing and evaluating the needs of industry and government to meet not only today’s needs, but to face tomorrow’s challenges. As the world advances into the realm of cyberspace, security issues become a primary concern for both users and developers. Trident is now an active participant in providing highly trained computer scientists to help keep cyberspace safe.” Dr. Simcha Pollard, Dean, College of Information Systems, Trident University.
In order to meet the requirements of this concentration, students must pass the following courses: Advanced Networking: Wireless (CSC 414), Ethical Hacking (ITM 439), and Information Security Systems Auditing and Digital Forensics (ITM447). All BSCS concentrations, including Cyber Security, consist of 14 core courses (56 credits) plus three elective courses (12 credits).
Additionally, Trident is an official member of Cyberwatch West and an academic advocate of ISACA. In a recent survey, OnlineU.org recognized the University’s BSCS program recently as a “Best Value.”
