SmartRink® Synthetic Ice Offers Malls an Edge Over Online Shopping
(PRWEB) December 18, 2014 -- Faced with growing competition from online shopping sites, The Redmond Town Centre in Seattle has found a solution in featuring a 3000 square foot SmartRink® synthetic ice rink for the holiday season.
The new attraction has drawn more than 1,000 patrons to enjoy an outdoor skate while getting their shopping done and the feedback is very positive. Redford Town Center Management is pleased that they are appealing to new customers and see the skaters enjoying the rink rain or shine.
SmartRink® President, Tim Oldfield was on site for the initial opening weekend. “Skating outside is a fairly unique experience in this area, he said. This time of year it can get a little damp so our product makes a lot of sense in this winter climate.”
SmartRink® synthetic ice is made from high tech engineered polymer panels fitted together to form the skating surface. Sizes can vary but rinks can be built up to full size and skaters are able to use conventional ice skates.
Synthetic ice is becoming an attractive option for businesses and communities alike, as it offers year round access to skating regardless of the weather conditions and it is low cost. Very little maintenance is required other than periodic cleaning of the surface.
