The Top 25 Award Winners of the European Venture Contest announced
Brussels, Belgium - Düsseldorf, Germany (PRWEB UK) 15 December 2014 -- The 8th edition of the European Venture Summit (EVS), which took place on 8 & 9 December at the Congress Center Düsseldorf, united 121 upcoming entrepreneurs and 100 investors and industry representatives for a dynamic 2-day pitching, networking and idea-sharing event. These 121 promising companies were selected from over 1000 applications and 600 pitches held throughout Europe Unlimited’s 2014 calendar. Jury of investors at the Summit included NRW Bank, Logitech, Samsung, T-Venture, Telecom Italia, Medtronic, E.ON, Evonik, Niton Capital, Creathor Venture, Finnvera Venture Capital, Newion Investments, Seventure Partners, Target Partners, Novo Seeds, Capricorn Venture Partners, DSM, Icos Capital, Zouk Capital and many more.
After speaking at the European Venture Summit, Svenja Schulze, Minister of Innovation Science and Research of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia, commented: “Venture capital is a key driver of innovation and as such offers a surplus for society as a whole.”
This year there was a special focus on Women Innovative Entrepreneurship within the European Venture Contest through a special qualifier as well as during the European Venture Summit. Svenja Schulze, also commented on this: “In an economy that relies not on natural resources but on brain power and innovation it is crucial to tap into the pool of potential female entrepreneurs.”
Top25 Award Winners selection process
The 121 presenting companies at the European Venture Summit were invited as the top rated companies of the European Venture Contest, selected over a series of regional or sector–focused qualifying events. These 121 companies were reviewed online and onsite by the investor jury on 7 criteria. The Top 25 winners got the highest review ratings following the online screening and onsite pitches.
