Grand County, Colo., Hosts Three Ice Fishing Contests This Winter
Grand County, Colo (PRWEB) December 17, 2014 -- Thick ice, the lure of the “big one,” the promise of prizes, and beautiful scenery to take in while you wait out your catch. It’s all in store this winter in Grand County, Colo., which plays host to three major ice fishing contests in January and February. Here are the details ice anglers need to know to get on the hook for thousands of dollars in prizes and priceless bragging rights.
27th Annual Three Lakes Ice Fishing Contest (Jan. 23-25, Granby, Colo.) – The competition takes place over three days on three popular fishing lakes in the Granby area: Lake Granby, Shadow Mountain Reservoir and Grand Lake. Participants can fish one, two or all three days, and are eligible for daily cash prizes totaling more than $6,000 each day, as well as raffle prizes.
For Three Lakes’ Grand Slam prize, fisherman work to catch one fish from each of the following species: Kokanee, rainbow, brown, and Mackinaw. After weighing all four fish, the prize is awarded to the heaviest creel, or basket.
The Three Lakes Ice Fishing Contest is open to all fishermen, not only the serious anglers. Fees for adults range from $35 for one-day participation to $50 for all three days. Those 17 and under are free if entered before January 20th. For more information contact the Granby Chamber of Commerce at 970-887-2311, grcoc(at)rkymtnhi(dot)com or http://www.granbychamber.com.
