Forth Annual Birds of a Feather Longarm Quilting Extravaganza
Virginia Beach, Virginia (PRWEB) December 18, 2014 -- Virginia Longarm Network and Innova Quilting Systems will hold its fourth annual “Birds of a Feather Longarm Quilting Extravaganza” at the Founders Inn and Spa in Virginia Beach on February 6 - 8, 2015. The event will attract some 300 plus attendees from around the globe – including Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Valerie Schlake, who operates Virginia Longarm Network, in Oilville, Virginia, travels the six-state Mid-Atlantic region, stretching from Pennsylvania to North Carolina, promoting the art of longarm quilting and representing the East Coast for INNOVA™ Longarm Quilting Systems. In 2011, Schlake started her own expo, “Birds of a Feather” to support Longarm quilters. Our 2015 events will include classes ranging from beginner to advanced including instruction from ‘How to Use a Longarm Machine’ to ‘How to Run a Profitable Longarm Quilting Business.’
According to a Quilting in America 2014 survey, the craft represents a $3.76 billion a year industry with more than 16 million active quilters in the country.
“Our Birds of a Feather event is an opportunity for those who want to learn about Longarm quilting as well as for the seasoned professionals to hone their crafts,” says Schlake. “Amazing magic occurs when you bring Longarm quilters together to network and learn from each other and from award-winning, nationally-renowned teaching professionals.”
Thirty professional quilters will form the faculty for this year’s event. Along with Schlake, this year’s faculty will include Capri Beckman, Liz Bigger, Jo Ann Blade, Lisa Calle, Jill Churchill, Cynthia Cossu, Rachel Derstine, Heidi Dewey, Kim Diamond, Michelle Eno, Dusty Farrell, Todd Fletcher, Cathy Franks, Cindy Harper, Sue Heinz, Anne Hurlburt, Dave Kapka, Mary Kerr, Allison Korb, Nancy McNally, Peggy Nagle, Barbara Persing, Mary Reinhardt, Sherry Rogers-Harrison, Michael Schwarzberger, Karen Sievert, Jamie Wallen and Nancy Wick.
Virginia Longarm Network has long supported Wounded Warriors with its quilt donations. This is the charity that Virginia Longarm will be working with in February 2015 at the Founders Inn in Virginia Beach. K9s for Warriors, called Operation Orion, is a new service project that trains rescue dogs to serve with “… our warriors suffering from post-traumatic stress and/or traumatic brain injury as a result of military service post 9/11. Our goal is to give a new leash on life to rescue dogs and military heroes, empowering warriors to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.”
Longarmer quilters and those considering a longarm will have the opportunity to experience Innova Longarm Quilting Machines and see why so many professional quilters have made the switch from other brands. Plus, purchase your quilting supplies from their favorite vendors, including: Material Girl, Anne Bright Designs (patterns), Superior Threads, Quilters Dream Batting and the VLN’s Longarm Shopping and Supply Booth.
And one lucky attendee will win an Innova Sitdown Quilting Machine complete with Innova's state or the art optical stitch regulator. This machine makes sit down longarm quilting a dream!
