Montreal-based Felix and Paul Studios, a leading producer of cinematic live action virtual reality content, has been invited to showcase three groundbreaking virtual reality experiences in the New Frontier exhibition at the upcoming 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
Leveraging the experience of directors and visual artists Felix Lajeunesse and Paul Raphael who are recognized innovators in this new medium, the original cinematic virtual reality experiences have been produced using Felix and Paul Studios’ proprietary platform for 3D 360° live-action virtual reality filming and post-production.
Felix and Paul Studios’ VR experiences offer the viewer a fully immersive sense of presence, time and space yet to be achieved on any other media platform.
Three of the studio’s cinematic virtual reality experiences will be showcased at Sundance in the New Frontier exhibition:
- Wild – The Experience takes the viewer into the world of Fox Searchlight Pictures' WILD, to experience an exceptionally intimate moment on the Pacific Crest Trail between a daughter and the vision of her deceased mother, played by Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern. (3 minutes)
- The World Première of Herders, an observational journey that bears witness to the lives of nomadic yak herders in Mongolia. (7 minutes)
- Strangers with Patrick Watson invites the viewer to spend an intimate moment with the musician in his Montréal studio on a winter’s day. (5 minutes)
Felix and Paul Studios was recently commissioned by Samsung and Oculus to create the Introduction to Virtual Reality experience for users of the newly introduced mobile-powered Samsung Gear VR headset. The studio is currently focused on the development of original narrative and non-narrative virtual reality experiences in collaboration with a range of leaders in the entertainment and virtual reality industries.
Felix Lajeunesse and Paul Raphael will be available for interviews at Sundance.
