gMed Completes Initial Phases of Colonoscopy Metrics Recommended by the ACG and ASGE and Supported by the AGA
Weston, FL (PRWEB) December 16, 2014 -- The ASGE/ACG Task Force on Quality in Endoscopy, a joint effort of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), has updated the quality metrics related to common GI procedures.
The following priority metrics, for colonoscopy, were suggested:
• Measure III: Utilization of appropriate repeat colonoscopy intervals Goals: >=90%
• Measure VII: Documentation of the cecum (via standard cecal landmarks) and photo documentation Goals: All colonoscopies >=90%, Screening colonoscopies >=95%
• Measure VIII: Adenoma Detection Rate Goals: >=30% Male, >=20% Female
Other metrics, like adequate documentation, withdrawal time benchmarks, and complication management will provide tangible added benefits to the base quality reporting standards.
Always pushing the line of innovation, gMed has immediately adopted these metrics into their analytical framework, gInsights. “Our goal is to allow administration and physicians to quickly understand their compliance within the triple society-endorsed metrics. From a simple user interface, the user can review enterprise, location, and provider scores with the ability to drill down to the patient level. With just a simple glance, those same metrics can be seen comparatively (last year, last quarter, last month, etc.) to identify weak areas, but provide the framework to trend improvement,” stated Erin Dettrey, Product Manager, Analytics. This feature is available to any client on gGastro version 4.56, with a current gInsights subscription beginning January 5, 2015.
This exciting addition joins a robust analytic tool, which is changing the way administrators and physicians are managing their integrated practice and Endoscopy center or ASC. gInsights presents data real-time data in a visually pleasing dashboard style and is quickly becoming the dashboard of choice for gMed’s clients.
gMed with one of the largest databases of gastroenterology information is preparing to also introduce national averages and regional metrics. This will allow practices to not only visualize where they stand against national benchmarks, but where the fall within the gMed community and their gMed region. In the financial world, the ability to see your “Average Days in A/R” and “Denial Rates” in a broader regional and national context can drive efficiency initiatives in gMed’s client organizations.
