Novogradac & Company LLP Opens an Office in Walnut Creek, Calif.
Walnut Creek, Calif. (PRWEB) December 17, 2014 -- Adding to its growing national presence, Novogradac & Company LLP today opened an office in Walnut Creek, Calif. The move expands to 18 the number of offices that the national certified public accounting and consulting firm has nationwide. Leading the firm’s business activities in Walnut Creek are partners Jon Adkins, Paul Charron and Kevin Wilson, along with principal Eric Barnett. All four are moving to Walnut Creek from the firm’s San Francisco office.

Walnut Creek, Novogradac’s second Bay Area location, will boast approximately 40 personnel within a month of opening its doors, making it one of the company’s largest offices from inception. The Walnut Creek office will initially be home to Mr. Adkins, Mr. Barnett, Mr. Charron and Mr. Wilson and their tax and audit teams. In addition, more than a dozen more tax and audit professionals will make the move to Walnut Creek, along with a number of the marketing department staff and software development team.
Mr. Adkins provides tax, attestation and consulting services to real estate developers, nonprofit organizations and public housing authorities. He has extensive experience serving clients with low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) developments, including those subject to the auditing requirements of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He also works in the loan defeasance industry, working with borrowers to defease their commercial mortgage-backed securities. Mr. Adkins received a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif. He is licensed in California as a certified public accountant.
Mr. Barnett specializes in auditing financial statements and preparation of tax returns for numerous entities, including affordable housing organizations, commercial real estate developers, for-profit homebuilders, nonprofit organizations and investment companies. Mr. Barnett joined Novogradac & Company in 2000 and has obtained a wide range of experience with low-income housing entities in the nonprofit sector. He received his bachelor’s degree in business economics with an accounting emphasis from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is licensed in California as a certified public accountant.
Mr. Charron specializes in accounting and auditing in the real estate and renewable energy industries. His experience includes accounting and auditing of affordable housing developments, real estate partnerships, limited liability companies, joint ventures for real estate developers, property owners, homebuilders and mortgage banking providers. Mr. Charron frequently consults with clients on unusual or complex accounting issues. Within the renewable energy industry, he has experience providing accounting and business advisory services to developers, syndicators and institutional investors on projects that use the investment tax credit and the production tax credit. He also serves as technical editor for the firm’s Tax-Exempt Bond Handbook: A Tax Credit Practitioners Guide to Using Tax-Exempt Bonds for Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Projects and the GAAP for Tax Credit Investments handbook. Before joining Novogradac & Company, Mr. Charron was an audit senior manager with Ernst & Young LLP, where he served technology companies, and an audit manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Toronto, Canada, where he served a variety of clients in the technology, retail and consumer products, and real estate and tourism industries. Mr. Charron has significant SEC reporting experience, including periodic filings, mergers and acquisitions and initial public offerings. He received a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada, and a master’s degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. He is licensed in California, Delaware, Washington and Oregon as a certified public accountant.
Mr. Wilson provides audit, tax and consulting services. Mr. Wilson has worked extensively in all areas of real estate. He works with a variety of entities, including real estate partnerships, corporations, investment funds, developers, investors and nonprofit organizations. He advises clients on a wide variety of accounting, tax and regulatory issues. Mr. Wilson joined Novogradac & Company LLP in 2002 and has obtained a wide range of experience with low-income, new markets and energy investment tax credit transactions. He has considerable experience with HUD and A-133 auditing procedures. He received his bachelor’s degree in business economics with an accounting emphasis from the University of California, Santa Barbara and is licensed in California as a certified public accountant.
