Laplink’s Easy Transfer Cable for Windows Now Available Worldwide

In the past, many users have relied on Microsoft’s Windows Easy Transfer (WET) with a Windows Easy Transfer Cable to move their data and settings from an old PC to a new one. But in Windows 8.1, WET’s functionality is significantly reduced. It no longer supports a direct transfer (across a network or a cable); instead, users are forced to copy their old computer’s data to an external drive, and then copy that data to their new PC.
